POSITION SUMMARY

The Technology Transfer Chemist assists the Tech Transfer Manager in all activities required for the transfer of technologies for the manufacturing company from initial invention disclosure to licensing; to implanting regulatory requirements.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Technology Transfer Chemist’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Predict, model, monitor and record the output and potential value of projects across the R&D portfolio.
  • Transfer of details  of  concerning  formulation and analytical strategies  from one  area to another area  that’s  from  R&D  to  Production  department and  succeeding  the product  from  the laboratory scale to  the production scale.
  • Determine appropriate transfer strategies, propose revenue savings and customer benefit.
  • Process understanding or the ability to predict accurately the future performance of a process.
  • Maintain and manage technical product support.
  • Execute new technical integrations to support related activities.
  • Develop and implement efficient instrument integrations.
  • Communicate and collaborate with other departments within the organization especially with operations, accounting, quality, production and business development to ensure that business development ideas can move from inception to implementation.
  • Understand and implement compliance documentation.
  • Train and guide technical staff in their day-to-day functions.
  • Assist and support technicians in executing projects.
  • Provide supervision and training for compounders and carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Business or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in personal care or related industry.
  • Broad understanding of technology, business, the creative process and strategic aims.
  • Ability to assess the potential for in the commercial arena.
  • Experience in driving projects through governance, regulatory and approval process.
  • Knowledge of the external regulatory environment for the cosmetics industry.
  • Experience in commissioning third parties and overseeing delivery of products and services to specification.
  • Strong computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Strong strategic planning skills and the ability to identify potential issues and resolve them.
  • Demonstrate a high level of tact, perseverance and professionalism when working with internal and external customers.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and flexibility within a frequently changing environment.

Typical Working Environment: Work will be primarily in a temperature controlled laboratory area. On occasion, time will be spent in production area requiring the wearing of safety equipment and dealing with constant equipment in motion and high noise levels. On occasion, may be required to work irregular work hours such as evening and weekends.

  • Office Equipment: Computer, Keyboard, Copier, Fax Machine.
  • Communication Equipment: Cell Phone, Landline Phone.
  • Laboratory Equipment: Balances, Pipettes, pH meters, UV/Visible spectrophotometer, Total Organic Carbon analyzer.

Essential Physical Tasks:

  • Moderate walking, standing and reaching.
  • Sitting for prolonged periods of time.
  • Perform repetitive tasks and use highly technical equipment.
  • Frequent and extended periods of looking at a computer screen and typing on a keyboard.
  • Light lifting and carrying (up to 25 pounds).
  • Vision abilities include close vision, color vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
