POSITION SUMMARY

The Compounding Manager is responsible for the day-to-day managing of the Compounding Department including the compounders, pre-weighers, and sanitizers.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Compounding Manager’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following: 

  • Oversee all daily department functions and coordinate all staff training.
  • Lead the layout and design of the Compounding Area.
  • Interview and recommend new employees and conduct performance reviews for the Compounding staff.
  • Motivate and encourage staff members, and handle all disciplinary issues.
  • Contribute to the long-range Strategic Plan.
  • Manage stock levels for all compounding supplies.
  • Implement and lead department initiatives.
  • Create and maintain all work instructions and Operating Procedures for the Compounding area.
  • Coordinate with facilities to ensure all utility services for Compounding (Deionized Water, Steam, Chilled Water, Compressed Air) are properly maintained and fully functional.
  • Work closely with facilities to ensure all processing equipment is maintained and fully functional.
  • Maintain the Compounding area is in a clean state every day.
  • Coordinate with Quality and R&D to ensure all batches and manufacturing instructions are fully understood and properly executed.
  • Manage all Raw Material inventory and complete pre-weigh functions.
  • Coordinate Raw Material cycle counts and R&D samples.
  • Track Compounding Activity and report progress.
  • Coordinate all batches requiring reprocessing.
  • Work with Planning and Production to support planned Production schedules.
  • Develop batch times and Labor Standards.
  • Schedule all Compounding staff and assign batches/work orders to meet planning priorities and schedules.
  • Recommend additional compounding equipment to support anticipated Bulk Product Demand.
  • Help source and specify new equipment.
  • Responsible for all ERP Transactions and the training and proper use of the computer system.
  • Audit all Compounding documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Manage department expenses with budgetary constraints.
  • Provide input in developing Annual Operating Budget.
  • Lead the company wide Safety Program.
  • Ensure all Safety Training is maintained and all safety procedures are followed.
  • Ensure compliance with all Safety, Regulatory, Procedural, GMP, OSHA, FDA Requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • 5+ Years of Compounding experience.
  • 3-5 Years experience in a Manager/Supervisory role.
  • Experience in manufacturing is a must.
  • Beauty/Skin Care industry is preferred.
  • Bilingual is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
  • Possesses high attention to detail.

Typical Working Environment: Work will be primarily in the Compounding area. Time will be spent in the Compounding area requiring the wearing of safety equipment and dealing with constant equipment in motion and high noise levels.

Equipment Used:

  • Office Equipment: Computer, Keyboard, Copier, Fax Machine, calculator, 10-Key.
  • Communication Equipment: Cell Phone, Landline Phone.

Essential Physical Tasks:

  • Moderate walking, standing and bending.
  • Sitting for prolonged periods of time.
  • Frequent and extended periods of looking at a computer screen and typing on a keyboard or 10-Key.
  • Frequent cellphone or landline use.
  • Lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds.
  • Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
